Liquid Fuel Generator Sets refer to the power generation device that uses combustible liquid as fuels with the internal combustion engine as prime mover to drive alternator and convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. It is composed by of Liquid fuel engine, alternator and control system.
Liquid fuels, including liquid fossil fuels, liquid biofuels, Liquid Synthetic Fuels and other pyrolysis oil, refers to any liquid (or liquefiable) substance that can be burnt to produce heat or power. Our generator sets can burn Diesel fuels, Heavy fuel oil (HFO), Crude oil, liquid biofuels and pyrolysis oil. Classification of Liquid Fuel Generator Sets:
1. According to the different fuels used, they can be classified into the following common categories:
■ Fuel Oil Generator Sets, It can be divided into two categories: Diesel Generator Sets, and Heavy Fuel Oil Generator Sets.
■ Crude oil Generator Sets, including Stationary crude oil generator sets and Marine crude oil generator sets.
■ Liquid Biofuels Generator Sets, including Biodiesel generator sets, Hydrogenated vegetable oil generator sets, and Biomass pyrolysis oil generator sets, etc.
■ Pyrolysis Oil Generator Sets, including Tire pyrolysis oil generator sets, Plastic pyrolysis oil generator sets, etc.
2. Liquid fuel generator sets can be classified into three categories based on their usage:
■ Prime Generator Sets, Operates continuously over long periods as the main power supply. Suitable for remote mining areas, islands, field operations, and other scenarios without electricity coverage. Require the unit to be durable and have low fuel consumption. PRP or COP power can be selected. Fuel: Liquid fuel.
■ Standby Generator Sets, Provides standby power when the main grid fails and power is interrupted. Such as backup power for conventional manufacturing enterprises, commercial buildings and fire protection systems. This type of unit has a short annual operating time and can use standby power (ESP), which is usually about 10% higher than the main power, but cannot operate at full load for a long time. ■ Emergency Generator Sets, The key is to start quickly to ensure personal and critical equipment safety. As a backup power source, it is used in Hospital ICUs, Data centers, large-scale events，Class I fire protection, and other places that require extremely high power continuity. requiring second level self starting and extremely high reliability, automatic transfer switches (ATS) are usually required to achieve unmanned operation. 3. According to the different engine speeds, the engine generator sets can be divided into three categories:
■ High-speed Generator Sets, It refers to a generator set with an internal combustion engine speed n > 1000 r/min. It is a small bore, four stroke generator set. The single set capacity is generally below 3MW. It has small size, light weight, flexible and fast start stop, and low investment cost. Mainly used as an emergency backup generator set.
■ Medium-speed Generator Sets, It refers to a generator set with an engine speed between 300 < n ≤ 1000 r/min. It is a medium-sized cylinder bore, four stroke generator set. The single set capacity reaches over 20 MW. Medium speed generator sets are widely used in scenarios that require extremely high reliability of power supply, such as peak shaving power stations, remote mining areas, oil fields, outdoor infrastructure projects, disaster rescue sites, data centers, etc.
■ Low-speed Generator Sets, It refers to a generator set with an engine speed n ≤ 300 r/min. It is a large bore, two-stroke generator set. The single set power reaches 30 - 80 MW. It has a long service life, low fuel consumption, large and heavy volume, and high investment cost. Mainly suitable for large independent power plants.
Characteristics of Medium Speed Liquid fuel Generator Sets:
1. Compared with high-speed gensets, the advantages of medium speed Liquid fuel generator sets:
● Durability (Low component wear, overhaul time of 60000 to 80000 hours);
● Reliability (Low failure rate, suitable for continuous operation);
● Economy (Fuel consumption as low as 185 g/kW.h, Low maintenance costs);
● High efficiency (Generation efficiency of over 45%).
2. The disadvantages are Large volume and heavy weight, relatively high one-time investment cost.
Liquid Fuel gensets are widely used in industrial, mining, power stations, oil field, traffic, communication, construction and other fields.
