Marine Fuel Oil Generator Sets refer to specialized ship power generation equipment that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy by driving the alternator with fuel oil engine. They can serve as both the power source and the emergency backup power source, providing stable electricity for all scenarios of ship navigation, operation, and living, and can also be applied to the power supply of electric and electric propulsion systems, making them the core facility of the Marine power system.

Classification of Marine fuel oil generator sets:
1. According to the different types of fuel oil, it can be divided into two categories:
■ Marine diesel generator sets, its are mainly high-speed diesel generator sets, and medium speed generator sets are not widely used. Suitable for inland or marine vessels. Mainly used for power supply to ships and offshore platforms.
■ Marine HFO generator sets, including Medium and Low-speed HFO generator sets.
2. Classified by usage attributes, it can be divided into three categories:
■ Marine main generator sets: used as the daily main power source for ships to operate for a long time.
■ Marine auxiliary generator sets: refer to the replacement of the main generator set during ship berthing or docking, significantly reducing operational energy consumption and noise.
■ Marine emergency generator sets: It should meet the requirements of the SOLAS Convention to ensure the power supply of critical equipment for ship escape. After the entire ship loses power, it needs to be started within 45 seconds to supply power to safety loads such as firefighting, emergency communication, and emergency lighting.
3. According to the different engine speeds, it can be divided into the following three categories:
■ High speed generator sets, also known as Marine high-speed diesel generator sets. The engine speed n > 1000 r/min.
■ Medium speed generator sets, including Marine medium speed diesel generator sets and HFO generator sets. The engine speed between 300 < n ≤ 1000 r/min.
■ Low speed generator sets, mainly refers to Marine low-speed HFO generator set. The engine speed n ≤ 300 r/min. There are very few applications in the field of ships.
